Meet the Future of Law
Sidebar
At the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, our students bring their stories, values, and ambitions to life through their work in and beyond the classroom. The Student Spotlights series features members of our student community who represent the integrity, drive, and resilience that define a Brandeis Law education.
We highlight students whose journeys reflect our values—whether they are first-generation law students, public service advocates, future litigators, student parents, or aspiring legal scholars. What you love about Brandeis: “I was initially drawn to the Brandeis School of Law because of its deep commitment to public service and emphasis on giving back to the Louisville community. Since joining the law school, I have been continually inspired by the supportive and collaborative environment. The students, faculty, and staff genuinely want to see one another succeed and never hesitate to offer guidance or encouragement.”
Career goal: “After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in civil litigation dedicated to upholding the rule of law and strengthening the democratic principles that sustain our society. Eventually, I hope to specialize in appellate litigation.”
Biggest influence: “I have been fortunate to be surrounded by an inspiring mother, supportive role models, and dedicated mentors throughout my life. However, my greatest influence has been my older brother, Michael Bailey. He has always been an unapologetic force for change, using his gifts to share the Gospel and advocate passionately for individuals with special needs and intellectual disabilities.”

Ava Cook
Class of 2027
Hometown: Milford, Ohio
What you love about Brandeis: “Brandeis is a school that celebrates and welcomes people from all walks of life—across age, background, beliefs, interests, and abilities. As a person with a visual disability, I navigate law school differently from many of my peers, yet I have never felt underestimated or limited by those differences. Brandeis fosters a people-first culture that not only helps every student thrive, but also extends that mindset into the greater Louisville community through service and advocacy. It is a place that practices community, not just preaches it.”
Career goal: “After graduation, I hope to build a career in personal injury law representing underserved plaintiffs who have suffered injuries at the hands of powerful institutions and corporations. My goal is to expand access to justice and empower disadvantaged communities through legal advocacy and education. Eventually, I hope to return to academia, continue my legal scholarship, and teach at a law school like Brandeis while advancing positive change within the legal profession.”
Biggest influence: “My greatest influence has been my family. My parents have always encouraged me to be ambitious, embrace challenges, and find gratitude throughout every stage of the journey. My grandfather, who was unable to complete his own law school journey, became my first and most enduring teacher of history, philosophy, and politics. His love of learning and moral clarity inspired my passion for law and political theory. I hope to carry forward his legacy as a lifelong learner—guided by faith, fueled by a passion for truth, and committed to using the law to serve others.”
Favorite quote: “Be strong and courageous Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:16
Victor “Trey” Tackett III
Class of 2027
Hometown: Georgetown, Indiana
What you love about Brandeis: “What I enjoy most about Brandeis—and law school in general—is the intellectual rigor and constant sharpening of my critical thinking skills. Law school is a place where I feel like my mind is becoming the best version of itself through being challenged by professors and peers to think in unique and thoughtful ways while fully exploring an answer or topic of discussion.”
Career goal: “I am currently undecided. Before law school, I worked for seven years at a firm focused on medical malpractice litigation, but I would like to explore other areas of the law before deciding on a long-term path.”
Biggest influence: “My biggest influence in the legal field has been my mentor, Bo Bolus, whom I worked under for seven years. He pushed and challenged me to become the best version of myself and is a major reason I chose to attend law school. At a time when I felt uncertain about my future, he introduced me to the world of litigation and helped me fall in love with the law.”
Favorite quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Class of 2027
Hometown: Morehead, Kentucky
What you love about Brandeis: “What I like most about Brandeis is its welcoming and supportive community. Faculty are approachable, peers are encouraging, and there’s a genuine sense of collaboration and kindness. I also enjoy being in Louisville—the city is vibrant and full of opportunities to engage locally, which makes learning and living here even more rewarding.”
Career goal: “I hope to pursue a career in real estate law, specifically in land use and property disputes. I want to find a role where I can continue growing as a professional while contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on the community.”
Biggest influence: “My family has always been my greatest source of inspiration and a reminder that purpose and impact start close to home. Their example has taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and giving back, shaping the way I approach both my personal and professional goals.”
Favorite quote: “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” – Maya Angelou
Amy Tucker
Class of 2027
Hometown: Hardinsburg, Kentucky
What you love about Brandeis: “First, I am grateful to be receiving an excellent education so close to home, where I can remain present for my family. Second, I am thankful for the Brandeis community. The students and staff truly care for one another, and I have made lasting friendships here.”
Career goal: “My goal is to find a career that allows me to care for my family while fulfilling my desire to help others. I am particularly interested in elder law.”
Biggest influence: “My biggest influence has always been my sweet Granny. Although she passed away last summer just after turning 100 years old, she left behind a remarkable legacy of grit and grace. Granny was an original Rosie the Riveter, a wife whose husband became abusive after the war, and later a single mother to seven children. She was sweet, tough, and stubborn all at once. Even in her later years, while battling cancer, recovering from a stroke, and surviving a heart attack, she still took the time to teach me how to sew on a button, crochet, and cross-stitch. She held my hand when my world felt like it was falling apart and reminded me that my future was bright. I was with her the day I found out I had been accepted into law school, and she was so proud. From her, I learned to face difficult times with determination and cherish the good ones. I know I can do anything because she did everything.”
Favorite quote: “To whom much is given, much is required.” – Luke 12:48
