Brandeis Law Professor Scott Campbell Receives National Award for Scholarship on Justice Brandeis

University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law Professor Scott Campbell has received the 2025 Hughes-Gossett Award from the Supreme Court Historical Society, recognizing outstanding scholarship on the history of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Campbell and co-author Lewis J. Paper were honored for their article, “Louis D. Brandeis on the Supreme Court: An Oral History,” published in the Journal of Supreme Court History. The article explores the legacy and influence of Justice Louis D. Brandeis through historical analysis and firsthand accounts.
The Hughes-Gossett Award is presented annually for the best journal article published in the Journal of Supreme Court History. Both authors have been invited to receive the award at the Supreme Court Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Dinner on June 8 at the U.S. Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C.
This recognition highlights the continued impact of Brandeis Law faculty scholarship and its connection to the legacy of Justice Louis D. Brandeis.
