Just like the billboards around Louisville suggest, Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers believes in helping people. And thanks to the generosity of Sam Aguiar and Janelle Aguiar (DMD 2009), two Brandeis Law students will benefit from that belief.

Sam and Janelle have established two multi-year scholarships for first-generation Brandeis Law students whom Sam believes will “crush it” while attending law school. The generosity of these scholarships will be transformational for the students who receive them. The Aguiars’ hope is that those students will “make a difference” with their law degrees.

First-generation students often face unique financial and professional barriers while pursuing a legal education. Scholarships like these help create greater access to the legal profession while allowing students to focus more fully on academic and professional success.

“Talented students from all backgrounds should have the opportunity to pursue a legal education,” said Dean Melanie B. Jacobs. “We are incredibly grateful to Sam and Janelle Aguiar for their generosity and for investing in Brandeis Law students who will go on to make a meaningful difference in their communities and the legal profession.”

“We are fortunate to be in a position to do this,” said Sam Aguiar. “All of our attorneys are first-generation professionals, and eight of us are Brandeis Law graduates who are here because the school took a chance on us. This scholarship is our team’s way of creating that same opportunity for others. We look forward to meeting the recipients and know they will be set up to succeed at the University of Louisville.”

Brandeis Law is grateful to Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers for its generosity and commitment to expanding access to legal education for future advocates and leaders in the profession.

Founded in 1846, the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the nation and Kentucky’s first public law school. Brandeis Law is committed to preparing students to serve their communities through advocacy, public service, leadership and professional excellence.
