Louis D. Brandeis Mentorship Program
Guidance, community, and confidence from day one.

At the Brandeis School of Law, mentorship is more than matching names—it’s building relationships that support your entire law school journey. Our program connects students with caring faculty, experienced professionals, and peer mentors who guide, challenge, and champion your growth.
Program Overview
The Louis D. Brandeis Mentorship Program includes two tailored paths:
Legal Professional Mentor Network
Open to all students, this network pairs you with practicing mentors—often alumni—who offer insight into the legal profession, academic strategies, and career paths. Connections begin with a meet-and-greet, followed by regular check‑ins throughout the year.
First-Generation Peer Mentor Connection
Specifically for first-gen students, this peer-to-peer track pairs upper-level law students with first-year students. It’s designed to help new students navigate academic life, build confidence, and access resources tailored to their unique journey.
How It Works
Apply early
Students begin by completing a short application to share their background, interests, and goals. This helps us make meaningful connections that align with each student’s aspirations.
Thoughtful mentor matching
Program administrators carefully review applications to pair students with mentors—either practicing professionals or upper-level peers—based on shared interests, experiences, or career paths.
Kickoff meet & greet
Mentorship officially begins with a Fall reception, offering an informal space for mentors, mentees, and program coordinators to connect and set the tone for the year ahead.
Year-long commitment
Mentors and mentees are expected to meet at least once per semester, whether in person, online, or over the phone. Many pairs choose to connect more frequently as their relationship develops.
Guided mentorship
Conversations are shaped around key areas such as navigating law school, study techniques, professionalism, ethics, and personal well-being—offering both academic and emotional support.
Mutual expectations
Mentors are encouraged to provide guidance, encouragement, and honest feedback. Mentees should remain open, engaged, and respectful of their mentor’s time and experience.
Confidential and respectful
All meetings are held in confidence, and participants are expected to maintain a professional and respectful relationship throughout the program.
